Our Passion
Hope and Potential. That’s what we see when we look at a young person. They may be bright and smiling, they may be dark and shadowy. They may be polite and respectful, they may be rude and rebellious. They may be academically achieving, they may have dropped out or been kicked out of school. They may be well on their way to realizing hope and reaching their potential, they may be beaten down and overcome with despair and failure. Regardless of their state of mind and condition of heart, we see the hope and potential in every young person, and want to see them come to experience all that God has planned for them.
Our Vision
We are dedicated to seeing young people have the opportunity to make an informed decision to become a follower of Jesus Christ and become a part of a local church.
We are committed to helping youth develop holistically by offering programs and developing relationships that nurture the whole person – physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually.
WHAT WE ARE… A PLACE TO GO
One of the problems faced by young people in St. Catharines is where to go to ‘hang out’, and what to do when they get there. Positive options are extremely few. The Deck Youth Centre provides a positive option, and in turn, can serve as a valuable preventative to questionable life-style practices.
PEOPLE WHO CARE
Peers, as well as adult role models, are sought by youth in a desire to find people who will care about them. The Deck provides an opportunity for young people to interact in a positive environment, as well as meet adult volunteers and staff persons who are willing to offer a listening ear, encouragement, support and friendship.
A PLACE TO FIND PURPOSE
Young people are experiencing a transition during which issues of personal identity, values, and life direction are being explored. The Deck Youth Centre promotes the healthy development of the whole person (physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual) in an effort to assist youth in building a stable foundation for life.
