We have been committed to supporting students in all ways and one innovating way we have done this is by providing students with real job experiences. In this way we have helped students to develop both hard and soft skills that they can take into the workforce. This job experience translates into building up their resume and providing references to support them as they move into workforce.
Past
In the past we have had a food trailer that would go to different events to sell burgers, hot chicken sandwiches and more!
This was a fun and different ways for students to get their community service hours and we would use the money raised to help the students afford our camp trip. We are so thankful to Ben Price, Jim Ball and Peter Juhlke for their initiative for starting and running this program.
Present
For the past few years we have been running and growing a window washing business in which we higher 2-3 students for the month of July on a full time paid position. We use a traditional squeegee method and train the students on the importance of providing quality service to every customer. If you are interested in having your windows cleaned please contact our staff team leader joey.t@yfcstcatharines.com
Future
In the future we hope to expand with more opportunities for students to take the lead on these entrepreneurial endeavors. We hope to hire Post Secondary level students to support the business side of things and give them opportunities to learn important leadership skills with the support network of the staff in the program.
